Acceptance & Commitment Therapy

Why Learn Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)?

ACT is effective with clients who present with, among other issues, Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Social Anxiety Disorder (SAD), and Substance-Use Disorder (SUD), three common metal health disorders that impact the lives of individuals, their families, their organizations, and their communities. It can also be useful with OCD, Substance Use Disorders, Chronic Pain, Workplace Stress, and Working on making more satisfying life choices.

With ACT, we work with our clients in understanding the role of Avoidance in the perpetuation of their problem, in accepting that uncomfortable emotions as appropriate responses to certain events and situations, and in learning to use psychological flexibility in difficult situations (instead of avoiding them), and by committing to making the necessary behavioural and cognitive changes in their lives.
